Masonite Acquires BirchwoodBestTAMPA, FL — Masonite Corp., a residential and commercial door manufacturer, announced it has finalized a deal to acquire BirchwoodBest, a manufacturer of commercial and architectural door-skins and of hardwood plywood for kitchen and bath cabinets. The company, located in Birchwood, WI, has a second smaller location in Thorp, WI, which it expanded to in 2004.

"Birchwood's facilities in Wisconsin are a natural complement to Masonite's existing commercial and architectural businesses," said Cody Wickersheim, Vice President of Birchwood, in a statement. "We look forward to joining the Masonite team and to the exciting new possibilities this creates for our customers."

Founded in 1904, Birchwood employs approximately 240 people with revenue of more than $40 million in 2010.

Wickersheim, an employee at Birchwood for 16 years, will join Masonite to aid in the transition.

Masonite’s acquisition of BirchwoodBest is expected to enhance the company’s capabilities to manufacture and distribute wood door components. Over the past couple years, the company has acquired several door and door component companies, including Marshfield DoorSystems and Lifetime Doors. And in Aug. of this year the company announced a $14 million investment to update its door production plant (formerly Lifetime Doors) in Denmark, SC.
