American Woodmark Sales Up 13%; Dunston to Exec VP OperationsWINCHESTER, VA - Cabinetry maker American Woodmark Corporation (NASDAQ: AMWD) promoted Cary Dunston, its senior VP manufacturing and logistics, to Executive VP, Operations.

Dunston assumes leadership of American Woodmark's operations, including sales and marketing, manufacturing and logistics, quality, product development, and purchasing.

 Cary has done an outstanding job of moving our manufacturing and logistics operations forward since joining the organization in 2006, including advancing our LEAN and Six Sigma programs, despite extreme market conditions," said Kent Guichard, CEO of the cabinets and vanity manufacturer. "The period ahead promises to be both challenging and full of opportunity as the housing industry begins to recover from the long recession and returns to its traditional place as a cornerstone of our economy."

American Woodmark reported kitchen cabinet and bathroom vanity sales rose 13% in its 1st quarter 2013, to $148.3 million.  

In the third quarter of fiscal 2012, American Woodmark committed to the closing of two manufacturing plants located in Hardy County, WV and Hazard, KY, sold its plant in Tahlequah, OK, and froze its defined benefit pension plans. Operations ceased at the Hazard plant in April 2012 and at the Hardy County plant in May 2012.  During fiscal 2012, the American Woodmark recognized pre-tax restructuring charges of $15.9 million related to these closures.

American Woodmark manufactures and distributes kitchen cabinets and vanities sold on a national basis directly to home centers, major builders and through a network of independent distributors. It operates nine manufacturing facilities and nine service centers across the country.
