The Bay Table was a custom build for a residential client in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The client needed to seat 12 heads in their newly renovated dining room, and wanted the live edge top to be native to the Gulf South. They wanted the live edge to maintain its character and to be unique while also being smooth enough so as to not splinter or chip (kids and dogs).

We ended up using a locally sourced tidewater cypress slab at 16' long and 40" wide, cutting 5' off the end to use as a matching coffee table in the future. All of the butterfly keys are opposing grain cypress to stabilize the large checking on one end of the slab. The base is a custom design that draws inspiration from a deer's leg, as the client is an avid hunter and requested we use his love for hunting as design inspiration. The base is 2" thick, bronzed plate steel that was plasma cut to show grit and texture. We then cocked the legs and used a wishbone runner system to tie it all together as one unit.
