Häfele Offers Security Presentation

CHICAGO — Häfele’s  presentation, "Access Control: A Specifiers Guide to Modern Locking & Identification Systems” (1.0 CES – AIA) will be held Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Häfele Chicago Showroom 154 W. Hubbard St. From 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be served, and the presentation will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Housing Slump Hurts Sales at Fortune Brands

DEERFIELD, IL — Fortune Brands lowered its profit forecast for the year after the slumping American housing market sent sales in its home and hardware unit, which produces Moen faucets and Aristokraft cabinets, down 20%, according to Bloomberg News. Fortune gets nearly half of its revenue from home and hardware sales. Earnings per share also are expected to drop.Read more.

Infant Death Prompts Recall of Delta Enterprise Cribs

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Consumer Protection Safety Commission (CPSC) and Delta Enterprise Corp. announce the recall of 985,000 drop-side cribs. When the safety pegs in the base of each leg of the crib are missing from the lower track, the crib locks can disengage and detach if lowered below the peg hole. This creates a hazardous gap, which can lead to the entrapment and suffocation of an infant or toddler.
