KCMA talks economy, foreign competition and formaldehyde

The business outlook for kitchen cabinets shows continued optimism for the next few years, according to economic projections from leading experts in attendance at the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's spring meeting. Almost 200 people, representing more than 70 cabinetry firms and related organizations, converged on Ponte Vedra, Florida, for the annual event.

Cabinet sales up 8.4% in March

Cabinet sales continued their upward trend in March, increasing 8.4% compared to the same month a year ago, according to participating members in the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's (KCMA) monthly Trend of Business Survey.

AkzoNobel outlines plan to thwart PPG takeover

Dutch coatings manufacturer AkzoNobel on Wednesday detailed plans to separate its Specialty Chemicals business as part of a strategy to fend off a multi-billion dollar takeover bid by rival PPG Industries. The strategy outlined to investors calls for AkzoNobel to sell or list the Specialty Coatings business within 12 months.
