Crowds measured in the thousands have feasted their eyes and imaginations on seven enchanted playhouses designed and donated by builders to benefit an Orange County, CA, charity for the homeless.

Themes of the seven custom-made colorful fantasy playhomes range from a day on the seashore, an English country riding club, an exquisite example of American craftsmanship and a future oceanographer’s dream laboratory.

Lyon Home Builders took home best of show honors for its Triple Crown Saddle Club playhouse. The fully furnished interior features stained wood beam ceilings, bead board trim, distressed hardwood floors, custom crafted cabinetry and a usable sink and countertop. Table and chairs, loft area and electric fireplace offers the comforts of home,. The playhouse is also tricked out with a flat screen TV, DVD, iPod hook up and indoor/outdoor speaker system.

The six week-long event culminates in a live auction on Friday, September 10.

Project Playhouse has raised more than $5.5 million in previous years and has helped HomeAid build or renovate 47 housing developments in Orange County for 25 non-profit agencies serving homeless families and individuals.
