MARK RICHEY WOODWORKING

, Newburyport, MA, says positioning its technical competency in Autodesk Inventor software with its manufacturing capabilities helped the company win the contract to develop precision millwork for the 1,600-seat Helzberg Hall, home of the Kansas City Symphony.

According to Ritch Winokur, engineering manager at Mark Richey, the software helped the company to "preflight" the fabrication and installation of the acoustically demanding wood interior, ensuring parts aligned perfectly.

"Creating digital prototypes of the various wooden elements allowed us to identify and fix problems ahead of time, before we'd cut a single piece of wood," Winokur said.

Mark Richey was featured in last year's WOOD 100, an annual showcase of the industry's most innovative firms. Inclusion in the WOOD 100 list celebrates those companies who have pushed the envelope in manufacturing, management and marketing practices.
