Canadaâs largest woodworking event incorporates the first Canadian Closets Conference and other educational workshops in three action-packed days.
The Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo returns to the International Centre Oct. 26-28, featuring Canadaâs widest range of machinery and supply exhibits, plus an expanded educational workshop program.
WMS 2007 exclusively targets the secondary woodworking manufacturing sector and features a complete package of standard machinery, high technology equipment and software, supplies and education for North American wood products manufacturers seeking the latest competitive solutions. For more than 25 years, this biennial event has been bringing buyers and sellers together in the heart of Canadaâs largest woodworking market.
That tradition continues next month at WMS 2007.

A Trio of Half-Day Workshops
The first-ever Canadian Closets Conference is the newest educational component of WMS. It is one of three half-day educational sessions scheduled during the show.
The Closets Conference will be held from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Friday, Oct. 26, at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel in the Toronto International Airport. It is cosponsored by CLOSETS magazine and the Association of Closet and Storage Professionals. Each of the scheduled five presenters is an owner or executive of a closet system manufacturing company.
The two other educational workshops are being coordinated by the Centre for Advanced Wood Processing at the University of British Columbia, in cooperation with Wood & Wood Products.
The first, âRecruiting, Training and Retaining the Right Employees: A Special Symposium for Wood Products Manufacturers,â is co-presented by the Wood Manufacturing Council and will be held at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26. The session is geared toward helping wood products companies hire and retain top talent. The program will include case studies highlighting industry best practices that attendees can take home for use at their own operations.
The other CAWP-led program, âThe Ins and Outs of Exporting to the U.S.: An Interactive Symposium for Canadian Manufacturers,â will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the International Centre. The program will update Canadian manufacturers on trends, opportunities and threats in U.S. markets for furniture, cabinets, millwork and other wood products.
