Woodies, woodies everywhere.
There arguably is no more nostalgic use of wood than in the woodie cars produced by Ford and Mercury for about two decades. Watch and listen as collector Nick Alexander describes his collection of 50 models, including some interesting trivia about these classic cars.
Alexander shares his passion when he talks about the hunt for old models and the restoration work he does and, above all, his admiration for the woodwork. "The wood is the focus of the car," he says, showing off details of woodwork so beautiful, it's hard to believe it's on an automobile and not in someone's home. It is easy to understand why these unique vehicles still have a legion of fans, both on the automotive and the woodworking side.
