The Custom Woodworking Conference is a newly added feature to the 5th annual Closets & Home Organization Conference & Expo.

A two-day conference with exhibits, the 2009 Custom Woodworking Conference takes place March 19-20 in Schaumburg, IL.

Discounted early-bird registration for the Custom Woodworking Conference is available at www.closets-expo.com.

The two-day conference, March 19-20, is being held in conjunction with the 5th annual Closets & Home Organization Conference & Expo at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center, Schaumburg (Chicago), IL.

Attendees can save $50 by registering for the Custom Woodworking Conference by March 4.

The Custom Woodworking Conference will be anchored by a half-day session on strategic planning to grow a custom woodworking business and succession planning. It will focus on how custom woodworkers can start building equity in their business today with an ultimate sale or succession in mind. The conference, specially formulated for custom woodworking business owners, is being organized by the Cabinet Makers Assn and Custom Woodworking Business magazine.

Among the featured speakers is a pair of professional woodworkers profiled separately in CWB, with first-hand experience of operating and selling manufacturing companies. The first is Richard Oedel, a custom furniture maker based in Boston, who was profiled in the November issue. The other is Jeff Ebel, who authored a two-part series on “Selling Your Business” in the May and June issues of CWB.

The Custom Woodworking Conference, which runs March 19-20, also will include sessions on product pricing, wood finishing, marketing and more.

“We are happy to be partnering with the CMA,” said Rich Christianson, Associate Publisher of Wood & Wood Products, Custom Woodworking Business and CLOSETS magazines. “CMA members share our commitment to provide high-quality education to help owners and managers of small- and mid-size wood products companies find ways to grow their businesses.

“We believe the Custom Woodworking Conference is a great fit with the Closets Conference & Expo, because a fair percentage of attendees are custom woodworkers. They come to the Closets Expo because many of the exhibitors also cater to cabinetmakers and other wood products manufacturers. Many of the custom woodworkers come to learn what all of the buzz is about closets and home organization. Now they will have the added reason to attend an event that features educational topics firmly focused on their business needs.”

Save $80 on Closets Conference

Custom woodworkers looking into the potential of adding custom closets to their portfolio may find it more advantageous to register for the three-day Closets Conference. An $80 registration discount is available through March 4.

The Closets Conference is sponsored by the Association of Closet and Storage Professionals. It covers a variety of sales and marketing topics, design, technology and “green” issues.

The 2009 educational offerings are further bolstered by a new alliance with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.
