Weak market conditions during the spring building season was one reason Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd. posted a $10.1 million decline in sales during the second quarter of 2014, compared to the same time last year.

The acquisition by Louisiana-Pacific Corp. of Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd. is seen as an excellent strategic fit that provides enhanced scale, greater access to Asian markets and a more diverse product mix.

Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd. announced a meeting of shareholders Oct. 29, 2013 in connection with the acquisition by Louisiana-Pacific Corp. of all of the outstanding Ainsworth shares.
