Domain Timber Advisors LLC has acquired Timbervest LLC's timberland and related fund management business, a portfolio worth $1 billion. Financial terms of the May 30 purchase were not disclosed.

Dutch coatings manufacturer AkzoNobel on Wednesday detailed plans to separate its Specialty Chemicals business as part of a strategy to fend off a multi-billion dollar takeover bid by rival PPG Industries. The strategy outlined to investors calls for AkzoNobel to sell or list the Specialty Coatings business within 12 months.

Raute Corp. has acquired Metriguard Inc., a manufacturer of lumber and veneer grading equipment based in Pullman, Washington. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The company will become a Raute’s subsidiary under the name Metriguard Technologies Inc.

Wood pellet producer Drax Biomass has acquired Louisiana Pellets with a winning auction bid of $35.4 million. The auction for the bankrupt Louisiana pellet manufacturer culminated on March 30.
