American Woodcrafters recalls bunk beds for rail replacementHIGH POINT — American Woodcrafters is recalling 180 wood twin bunk beds and loft bunk beds due to faulty upper guard rails. The rails can crack and cause the mattress and support rails to collapse, posing a fall hazard. Two cases have been reported, with no injuries.

The case goods importer announced the recall on Sept. 20, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recall affects American Woodcrafters beds and sold between October 2010 and June 2011, with SKU numbers 1800-977 or 1800-969; PO Numbers 103276, 103432 or 300038 and the manufacturing date. The beds, made in Indonesia, range in price from $600 to $1,000.

Consumers are being told to stop using the upper beds and to contact American Woodcrafters or their furniture dealer for a free replacement of the upper guard rails.
