ASHEBORO, N.C. — A former Klaussner employee filed a federal lawsuit on Aug. 10, a few days after the company shut down.
The plaintiff, Trey Chavis, alleges the company did not give them at least 60 days notice, as required by the WARN Act.
Chavis filed his lawsuit (1:23-cv-00876, Chavis v. Klaussner Furniture Industries Inc.) in a Delaware court requesting class-action status and a jury trial. Chavis was employed at the Klaussner plant at 405 Lewallen Road in Asheboro, which employed 558 who were subsequently let go.
