Regent Cabinet Solutions leases 100,000 sq. ft. facility in Maryland

Regent Cabinet Solutions, a manufacturer of high-end cabinet and countertop solutions, is expanding its footprint in Cecil County, Maryland. The company is leasing a new facility that will combine manufacturing and operational logistics, utilizing approximately 100,000 square feet of space and creating up to 25 new jobs in the community.

Comment period open for proposed wood paneling standard

According to the Architectural Woodwork Institute, architectural wall panels are used in many woodworking projects. On AWI's website, the association points out why wall panels are part of the group's standards. They say that these panels "look beautiful and have a huge aesthetic impact on any architectural woodwork project ... But while they look great, it is often challenging to build architectural wall panels that meet both design specifications and the AWI Standards." The group is now looking for comments on these standards.

KEWASKUM, Wis. -- Drexel Building Supply is expanding its footprint to Kewaskum, WI after the recent announcement of its acquisition of McMahon & Co, a custom door manufacturer. Located 6 miles from Drexel’s Headquarters, the facility will continue to manufacture quality products customers have come to expect out of McMahon & Co.

ATF joins investigation into Morgan Li fire

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. — The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has joined the investigation into a massive warehouse fire Monday morning in Chicago Heights. According to WGN-TV in Chicago, a spokesperson for the south suburb declined to say whether investigators have found any evidence that causes them to suspect arson.

CPSC report says nearly 20,000 tipover injuries required emergency room visits from 2019 - 2021

A new report from the Consumer Product Safety Commission found that there was an estimated annual average of 19,400 emergency department (ED)-treated injuries from 2019–2021, and the 592 reported fatalities4 associated with tip-over incidents occurring between 2000 and 2021. KCMA says cabinet company evaded antidumping duty and countervailing duty rules

According to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has determined there is substantial evidence that Scioto Valley Woodworking, Inc. d/b/a Valleywood Cabinetry entered merchandise covered by antidumping duty (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) orders (A-570-106 and C-570-1071) on wooden cabinets and vanities and components thereof from China into the customs territory of the United States through evasion.

West Fraser is North America's softwood lumber king, says Forisk

ATHENS, Ga. – West Fraser produced nearly 30% more softwood lumber in North America last year than any other company, according to Forisk Consulting. West Fraser’s total output was 7,035 million board feet (MMBF) compared to Canfor, 2,469 MMBF; and Weyerhaeuser, 5,330 MMBF. The top 10 North American producers of softwood lumber combined for 37,637 MMBF in 2022 and accounted for 49% of total North American production. That represents a 5.7% increase compared to the total output of Forisk’s 2021 Top 10 producer list.
