Will KraftMaid Reverse Price Hikes? Plywood Dumping Tops Reports  Masco Cabinetry's KraftMaid Cabinets planned a price increase based on tariff hikes expected for plywood imported from China. Instead, the International Trade Commission ruled China didn't dumping plywood, a story that became the most-viewed report this week.

KraftMaid said that Department of Commerce anti-dumping duties and counterveiling duties totaling 73% were largely responsible for its decision to raise its cabinet prices by up to 12% effective Dec. 23. Inflationary increases on particleboard, cardboard and hard and soft lumbers also are contributing to the planned price increases.

“The anti-dumping and countervailing duties significantly increase raw material costs for manufacturers, such as KraftMaid Cabinetry,” said Rick Roetken, president of Masco Cabinetry. With the International Trade Commission finding China didn't dump plywood, Kraft Maid may alter its plans.
