Combustible Wood Dust Enforcement Reports Issued in Canada

British Columbia's WorkSafeBC completed targeted combustible dust inspections in 85 sawmill locations and 15 wood product manufacturing locations in B.C. New combustible dust rules were initiated Sept. 1, 2014. Sample photos are included.

Sawmill owner Lakeland Mills Ltd. faces more than $750,000 in administrative penalties and a claims cost levy by WorkSafeBC, the provincial worker safety agency in British Columbia. A 2012 fire and explosion there killed two workers.


PJ Lumber Cited by OSHA for Fall and Amputation Hazards

Workers at PJ Lumber Co. were exposed to falls, amputations and other hazards. The finished lumber products manufacturer was been cited for 13 serious safety and health violations and a $50,000 fine proposed.

La-Z-Boy's Lea Industries recalls rubberwood and birch veneer lighted night stands. Made in Viet Nam, the Willow Run two-drawer stand features an under-the-table 20-watt halogen night light that is said to pose burn hazards.
