This wood podium, Specialty category winner in the 20th Custom Woodworking Design Portfolio Awards, was built by Custom Wood Furniture Inc. for a spiritual center in West Orange, NJ.

It is constructed completely with solid lumber and the larger fields are hickory with American Black walnut for detailing. The repeating fan style gives support to the graceful, undulating, hand-carved surfaces of the reading platform.

Custom Wood Furniture, founded in 1989, is a design-to-build firm and provides interiors for the hospitality, institutional, commerical and residential markets using materials from wood to metal, acrylics, stone and fabric.
