Renaissance Custom Furniture and Texas Woodmill Cabinets for Art Nouveau Bathroom

Matthew S. Williams of Renaissance Custom Furniture, Hawkins, TX, and Jason Kelly of Texas Woodmill Cabinets Inc., Hawkins, TX, are finalists in the 2015 Custom Woodworking Design Portfolio Awards with their project “Art Nouveau Bathroom” entered in the Kitchen/Bath Cabinets category.

Project Description: Texas Woodmill was hired by the contractor to install all the kitchen and bathroom cabinets for a massive remodel and addition in an east Texas home. When the homeowner showed Jason Kelly of Texas Woodmill Cabinets her ideas for an Art Nouveau bathroom, he quickly enlisted the help of Matthew S Williams, owner of Renaissance Custom Furniture.

Project Construction Details: Matthew Williams worked with the homeowner to design the cabinet facade and mirrors for the master bathroom cabinets. Jason Kelly designed the cabinet boxes to fit within the space allotted. Texas Woodmill then built the cabinets, roughed in the carving on their cnc machine, and delivered them to Renaissance Custom Furniture to be carved. Texas Woodmill then installed the cabinets, and Renaissance Custom Furniture later stained and finished the cabinets on site.

Materials Used: Formaldehyde free Purebond plywood used for box construction and Grass Tandem Undermount soft-close glides used on birch-sides drawers.

SOSS hinges used for articulating mirror frame.

5/4 mahogany doors and drawer fronts and mirror frame. Mohawk Conversion Varnish.

Equipment and/or Software Used: Komo CNC using AutoCAD and Router-Cim to make rough-cuts of design enabling perfect mirrored layout on all pieces.
