Mike Emmel of Interior Woodworks, Bismarck ND, is a finalist in the 2015 Custom Woodworking Design Portfolio Awards with his project “Mahogany Library” entered in the Architectural Millwork category.
Project Description: The homeowners asked us to cover every square inch of sheetrock with rich mahogany. Fluted columns, bookcases, archways and coffered ceilings and paneled walls created a space where they can escape the hectic pace of life and relax with a bound book (not electronic) or just reconnect with each other.
Project Construction Details: All millwork was fabricated using traditional wood working equipment such as table and miter saws, planers, jointers, etc. The coffered ceiling had to be designed, template and fabricated in three sections to follow contour of bookcases, fireplaces and walls. On-site our installation crew joins all pieces together with great attention to detail for a custom fit.
Materials Used: Mahogany Hardwood
Equipment and/or Software Used: Table saws, planers, shapers, sanders and routers
