Anthony Scaletta, Encore Garage, is a finalist in the 2014 Top Shelf Design Awards competition with his project "Autumn Glow Garage" entered in the Garage under 600 square feet category.
Project Description: This garage makeover project involved the transformation of dull messy space into a sleek, stylish garage space highlighted by wood core cabinets with an Autumn Glow melamine finish and a butcher block countertop. The cabinet system which spanned the back wall included plenty of tall storage cabinets along with an eight feet of workbench space. The workbench featured recessed under cabinet lighting. All of the other garage walls were covered with maple finish slatwall panels for a warm look and ultimate functionality. The floor was coated with a polyaspartic full flake system in a color blend to complement the overall color scheme.
List materials used in the project, including wood, veneer, laminate, hinges, decorative accessories, etc.: 3/4" thick melamine panels for vertical cabinet components, 1" thick melamine tops, bottoms and shelves, 1/4" thick MDF backing, butcher block countertops, maple slatwall panels, Hafele undercabinet lighting fixtures
Describe any design challenges, i.e. obstructions, etc.: A bump out on the main cabinet wall required the some of the cabinets to be designed a different depths in order to crate a flush look along the entire run.
Was the design created by hand or software program? If software program, which one did you use?: Design was created in CabinetVision
Describe the installation process and any challenges.: Customer wanted cabinets to extend to the ceiling so rather then use tall cabinets with stacker cabinets on top, we designed an extra tall 92" tall cabinet.
