Interfor Lumber Produces Record 470 Million Board Feet

Interfor says lumber production was a record 470 million board feet, up 5% from the third quarter of 2013. Lumber sales were a record 500 million board feet, up 12% versus the prior quarter.

Resysta Rice-husk Wood Product Debuts at Builders Show 2014

Westech Building Products debuted its bio-based wood substitute, TruGrain, at the Builders Show 2014 in Las Vegas. It is based on Resysta, a German polymeric product made with rice husks, mineral oil and salt. A video shows Resysta in the model home built for the show.

Rayonier Splits Timber, Chemicals Businesses

Rayonier Inc. will separate its forestry and real estate holdings from its chemicals business, to form two independent, publicly traded companies. The separation of Rayonier's (NYSE: RYN) businesses is expected to be completed in mid-2014.
