The first Sustainable Forestry Initiative Award went to NSDA, a Vancouver architectural firm, for the Kordyban Lodge Cancer Care Facility, which uses wood intensively in interior and exterior construction. NSDA also recently won an Alberta Wood Works Award.


Hardwood Lumber Exports Shatter Record

U.S. hardwood lumber exports totaled a record 1.463 billion board feet in 2013, besting the previous one-year high set in 2006 by 11%.

Wagner Lumber's Owego, NY mill was hit by a massive fire. The blaze drew 17 area firefighting companies. A fireman's helmet webcam shows the destruction at one of the largest hardwood lumber mills in the Northeast U.S.
