LEXINGTON, KY - Regional building materials firm Carter Lumber will open a 50,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Lexington. More than 100 people will be hired to produce wood products for the Charlotte area. Carter Lumber is based in Ohio.

Mark Ely, director of marketing for Carter Lumber, told the Triad Business Journal that construction should begin in the coming weeks on 50,000 square feet of new manufacturing space on Old Hargrave Road.

The multi-million dollar investment will produce 30-foot trusses by homebuilders, and will also make wall panels, engineered wood products and produce millwork for local builders. Operations will begin by the end of the year.
