Listed below are some common problems, causes and recommendations for cold pressing.

DELAMINATION WITH LITTLE SUBSTRATE FAILURE

Possible causes include: pre-cure, low pressure, short press time. Recommendations: increase glue spread, decrease assembly time, increase pressure and/or increase press time.

SPOTTY BOND

Possible causes include: uneven surfaces, worn spreader rolls, pre-cure. Recommendations: calibrate cores to uniform thickness and/or increase pressure, replace or regroove rolls, increase glue spread, decrease assembly time.

GLUE BLEEDS THROUGH FACE VENEERS

Possible causes include: excessive glue spread, excessive pres-sure, wrong adhesive type. Recommendations: reduce glue spread, reduce pressure, contact your account manager.

TELEGRAPHING OF CORE DEFECTS OR BANDING

Possible causes include: excessive pressure, uneven or variable thickness, foreign material on core Recommendations: reduce pressure, pre-sand core and pre-clean core, reduce glue spread.
