Zepsa Architectural Woodwork completes super yacht interior
'Super' Yacht, Wood Acetylation Cruise in WWN's Top 10

CHARLOTTE, NC-Oct. 18, 2010- Zepsa Industries announced the completion of Zepsa Architectural Woodwork's installation for the launch of the iconic, monumental private yacht, M/Y Cakewalk.

Under the direction of Derecktor Shipyards, Tim Heywood and Dalton Designs, Zepsa has engineered, fabricated, finished, and installed 39 rooms of highly specified wood paneling, cabinetry, architectural mouldings, passage doors, and perhaps the crowning jewel of the entire ship, the grand central staircase. Zepsa modified the structure of its shop, adding a 60' tower to allow for the complete pre-assembly of this three story, free-standing circular staircase, replete with architectural detail, hand carvings, radius wall paneling, and ornamental iron railings.

Designer Tim Heywood says, "Cakewalk is a very important yacht for Derecktor and for American Yachting...My designs tend to be a bit complex, but they've risen to the challenge and they've produced something very special."

At 281 feet (85.6m) in length, Cakewalk is a modern day marvel and possibly the largest private marine vessel, by volume, ever built in the United States. The owner's intent was to engage domestic resources and show without a doubt that the highest level of design, engineering and world class construction is available on our own shores, rivaling and surpassing the standards set by the entrenched European shipyards.

The owner, the design team, and Derecktor Shipyards will celebrate the success of the owner's vision at Cakewalk's debut at the upcoming International Boat Show in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
