Yorktowne Cabinetry to build $19 million plant
Red Lion, PA (February, 2005) In an continuing effort to strengthen its presence in the semi-custom cabinet industry, Elkay Manufacturing Company and its cabinetry group today announced the $ 19 million investment in the construction of a 256,000 sq. ft state-of-the-art wood finishing and cabinetry assembly plant in Danville, VA.

This bold strategic move will provide Yorktowne Cabinetry with added capacity to improve current service in the Southeast market and allow for increased market presence in the Northeast. As a result, more customers will obtain access to the admirable quality of Yorktowne-made cabinetry with its practical and innovative design details.

At the same time, Yorktowne Cabinetry will also gain additional flexibility to better compete in today’s ever changing dynamic marketplace.

Elkay Cabinetry Group, the forth largest in the industry, has seen dramatic growth over the last few years, primarily in the high-end remodeling and custom-home building sector. The tremendous growth has been fueled by record-low interest rates, soaring investments in value enhancing home improvement activities, greater than ever rise in homeownership, an increasingly improving economy, and the consequently strong job market.

Yorktowne Cabinetry has recently begun the development of the new site and considers transferring some production equipment from Mifflinburg, PA to Danville, VA before the end of this year. In parallel, the 97-year old company will continue operating the dimension mill in Mifflinburg, PA along with the original assembly plant in Red Lion, PA.

In an effort to better service it’s current customer base and to reach out to additional business, the Elkay Cabinetry Group feels confident in making this investment for the improvement of its operations and customer relations.
