OCI Melamine restarts melamine plant
Geleen-–OCI Melamine, part of OCI Nitrogen one of the European market leaders in fertilizers and melamine, has decided to re-start its 30,000 tonnes/annum Short Liquid Phase (SLP) melamine plant in Geleen, The Netherlands. Commercial quantities of SLP melamine are expected in the fourth quarter of 2011 and contract volumes will be available from the first quarter of 2012.

Improved market fundamentals after the recession in Europe and the America’s allow OCI Melamine to re-start the SLP melamine plant. As a result OCI Melamine will increase its supply capabilities, especially for the European market. In 2008, the SLP melamine plant was shut down to adjust output and inventories due to strongly reduced global demand impacted by the worldwide recession.
