Seven Kimball(R) Office | interstuhl(R) Seating Lines Granted BIFMA level(TM) Certification
Jasper, Ind. (July 13, 2010) — Seating lines bearing the Kimball(R) Office | interstuhl(R) name recently received e3 level(TM) certification by the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association (BIFMA). Now, more than 98 percent of Kimball(R) Office products meet BIFMA e3 level status, a third-party certification process designed to evaluate the sustainability of manufacturer’s products.
“Both of our organizations have worked hard to ensure the products delivered to customers meet and exceed environmental expectations. We will continue our commitment to sustainability by encouraging and sharing green practices with all of our partners, vendors, and suppliers,” said Jeff Fenwick, Vice President and General Manager at Kimball Office.
Currently seven seating lines fall under the Kimball Office | interstuhl name, including Axos(TM), Xantos(TM), Hero. Just for You.(TM), Silver(TM), Fit(TM), Mitos(TM), and Campos(TM), which debuted in June 2010.
“Both Kimball Office and Interstuhl design safe, sustainable products, and we’re excited to officially add this designation to the products within our partnership,” said Steven Brewster, Sustainability Manager at Kimball Office.
The BIFMA level certification program establishes performance criteria to address environmental aspects of product manufacturing throughout the supply chain, including general areas of materials, use of energy, human and ecosystem health, and social responsibility impacts. There are three levels of conformance, with each requiring specific prerequisites and optional credits, similar to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED(R)) certification. Level 3 is the highest certification level.
