Haworth’s continued investment in new products contributed to the launch of several new product platforms in 2010. One of Haworth’s most successful projects, the Very® Task Chair, had a global introduction at NeoCon and Orgatec. Part of the growing Very family of seating, the chair provides science-based ergonomics, personalized comfort, design and durability at a sensible price. Haworth received NeoCon Gold in Seating: Conference and NeoCon Silver in Seating: Ergonomic Desk/Task for the Very Task chair.
Also at NeoCon 2010, Haworth revealed a new showroom with an inspiring vision that featured Compose wood storage, Enclose frameless glass walls, the Kiron European desking system, Tuohy casegoods and Cloud sculptures with Kvadrat, as well as a Terrazzo flooring hybrid with Haworth’s raised access base and Tecnika tiles by Monotile. During 2010, Haworth continued its sustainable journey and released a sustainability report – the company’s fifth annual. Haworth’s global headquarters and the San Francisco and New York City showrooms achieved LEED gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in 2010. The headquarters also earned the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR®. With the addition of these certifications, Haworth has 11 LEED Gold spaces globally, including showrooms in Zurich, Switzerland, Shanghai, China, and Pune, India. Haworth also continued to improve operational efficiencies by consolidating movable wall and wood casegood manufacturing into existing West Michigan facilities.
During 2010, Haworth certified over 50 products with level™ - the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association Product Sustainability Standard. With this multi-attribute certification that reviews both environmental and social impacts, customers can make informed choices about commercial furniture and modular interiors. The certification also identifies that a product has been vetted by an independent certifier.

Haworth is also proud to be recognized for efforts related to social responsibility, including being awarded the 2010 Michigan Minority Supplier Diversity Council (MMSDC) Corporation of the Year – Commercial Products. And, for the 2nd year in a row, the company was recognized with a MMSDC Corporate One Award.
