Safety Recognition Awards Honor Composite Panel PlantsLEESBURG, VA - Last week CPA formally announced its 2012 Safety Recognition Awards for participating composite panel manufacturing plants with exemplary safety records, including acknowledgments for long-term, annual, safety improvement and safety achievement.

The award for the best record among large plants with zero lost time incidents in 2012 was shared by Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, East River, Nova Scotia; Del-Tin Fiber Co., El Dorado, Arkansas; and Temple-Inland, Mt. Jewett, Pennsylvania.

Georgia-Pacific, Monticello, Georgia; Roseburg Forest Products Co., Taylorsville, Mississippi; Temple-Inland, Diboll, Texas; and West Fraser Mills Ltd. Ranger Board, White Court, Alberta shared the award for best record among small plants – also with zero lost time incidents.

The long-term award for the best record over the past three years was Louisiana-Pacific, East River, Nova Scotia, for large plants, and Georgia-Pacific, Monticello, Georgia, for lower worker-hour mills.

Additionally, two plants recognized for the greatest long-term improvement in safety over the past three years were Collins Hardboard and Collins Particleboard, Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Thirteen plants were recognized for achieving an incident rate less than 50% of the industry average over the past three years. These were Del-Tin Fiber Co., El Dorado, Arkansas; Flakeboard Co. Ltd., Malvern, Arkansas; Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, East River, Nova Scotia; Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, Roaring River, North Carolina; Temple-Inland, Hope, Arkansas; Temple-Inland, Mt. Jewett, Pennsylvania; Georgia-Pacific, Monticello, Georgia; Roseburg Forest Products Co., Taylorsville, Mississippi; SierraPine Ltd., Martell, California; SierraPine Ltd., Springfield, Oregon; Temple-Inland, Diboll, Texas; Temple-Inland, Thomson, Georgia; and West Fraser Mills Ltd. Ranger Board, White Court, Alberta.
