Rougier Gabon Obtains BS 1088 Compliant

Paris – Rougier, global leader in the business of certified African tropical timber, is pleased to announce that its factory in Owendo (Libreville - Gabon), which is specialised in the manufacturing of 100% full Okoume plywood, has obtained BS 1088 compliant Lloyd’s Register Type Approval certification.

Strengthened brand identity in the high end market

This certification is a prerequisite in order to enter Anglo-Saxon markets, especially concerning demanding marine structures and applications that require particular materials fitted to requirements of stability, waterproofness, moisture and salt water resistance.

All BS 1088 Lloyd's Register Type Approval plywood products carry a specific LLOYD’S approval number and the MARINE mention, which make it easy to recognise this range of high end products.

High quality plywood commitments

The BS 1088 standard is not only highly demanding in terms of plywood composition and type of veneer, but also requires top level bonding and durability properties of the species that are used. Continuous internal quality assessments that are regularly controlled by independent third party bodies guarantee compliance with the high level of requirements for increasingly high-performance products.

100% FSC

Just as Rougier Gabon’s whole range of Okoume plywood products, products carrying the BS 1088 label are certified FSC 100%. These products are fully traceable and carry certificates of legal origin and good forest management, given that all timber supplies for the Owendo factory come from the group’s Gabonese concessions which obtained FSC certification several years ago (FSC-C002449).

This new certification confirms the Rougier Group’s commitment to make its whole product range compliant with the best international regulations and to guarantee the highest quality standards.
