MEDINA, MN -- Rockler Woodworking and Hardware has introduced Reclaimed Route 66 Lumber, which is sourced from the decks of tractor trailer trucks that travel across the U.S. each day, including travel on Route 66. Reclaimed lumber has become a hot design trend as well as an increasingly popular commodity for rebuilding and repurposing items such as table tops, weathered furniture, framing, signs and other custom projects. Reclaimed Route 66 Lumber is an ideal material and carries the story of being used as decking in a truck to haul cargo across the U.S.

"This reclaimed lumber is absolutely ideal for many furniture pieces and other repurposing projects that call for a unique, custom look," says Steve Krohmer, Rockler's VP of Product Marketing. "The rustic gouging gives table tops and other pieces a beautiful weathered appearance, especially once finish has been applied."

The Reclaimed Route 66 Lumber planks are a mix of red and white oak and measure six feet in length, 12" wide, and 1-1/4" thick. The edges are dotted with blackened holes where bolts were torched out. The bolt holes can be left as is for character or trimmed off if desired. The bottom side is less worn, and shows rust bands from the tractor trailer's frame.

Reclaimed Route 66 Lumber (44241) retails for $5.99 per board foot in stores and online in bundles of two planks (15 board feet) for $89.85. It can be purchased at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware stores nationwide, Rockler independent resellers, Rockler.com, or from the Rockler catalog.
