Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas Celebrates Topping Out

DALLAS - Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas is celebrating a major milestone this week, with the topping out of the 1.86 million square foot facility. The project was kicked off a year ago with the ground breaking ceremony and has seen excitement build as the walls have risen.

The final beam was hoisted into place Wednesday afternoon by Turner Construction Company, with a crowd of proud workers, owners and special guests looking on.

"The excitement continues to grow between The Colony and Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas as we witness the construction progress." stated Joe McCourry, Mayor of The Colony. "Residents are excited about this premier retail and entertainment destination in our city and the opportunities it brings."

The 1.3 million square foot distribution center and 560,000 square foot retail showroom will be the largest volume home furnishings store in North America when it opens in spring 2015. The store will offer an unmatched selection of furniture flooring, appliances and electronics along with legendary low prices providing customers with a unique one-stop shopping destination. The huge distribution center will allow access to product for immediate pick-up or delivery.

“Watching the building come out of the ground has been very exciting. We are very pleased with the progress and more importantly we are thrilled with the positive response we have received thus far from the local community and surrounding Dallas/Fort Worth area,” Ed Lipsett, Store Director, Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas.

The retailer is the first major anchor of Grandscape, the $1.5 billion, 433-acre, mixed-use destination development located along the south side of State Highway 121 between W. Spring Creek Parkway and Plano Parkway. It will be the premier retail and entertainment destination of its kind.
