HANNOVER, GERMANY - Weinig is showing its wood profiling Powermat series, including the Powermat 2400, making angled spindles, vertical floating spindles and 3D structuring, with a new back-pressure system that  prevents "snipes" and "dips" at the final lower spindle. Also new at Weinig is MemoryPlus 2.0, an entry-level control system  for customers with a small variety of profiles.

Weinig is highlighting its new Pointed Tooth Roller 2.0 feed roller, which has better grip, which ensures optimized workpiece transport. The lower contact pressure reduces indentations in the wood. Reduced wear and build-up of debris also extend the service life of the rollers.

Another Weinig debut at Ligna 2013 is a 90° chamfering unit with axles that are independent of the spindles. The installation at a 90°-angle allows the production of chamfers with curves and radii. Weinig is also debuting the Conturex Compact at Ligna. The new version is geared to smaller woodworking operations. The Conturex captures braking energy through a an energy refeed unit.

Weinig is also showing a fully-automated pre-cutting system here in Hannover  - the OptiLink, a software solution for 2D optimization. The line includes a CombiScan 200 R scanner for ripsawing and cutting, a ProfiRip 450 Speed optimizing circular saw and an OptiCut 450 FJ+ III high-speed optimizing cross-cut saw with ST 10-1500 automatic stacker, all conntected through  OptiLink software.

Other Weinig debuts at Ligna 2013 include:

• ProfiPress L II Comfort, a high-frequency gluing press with semi-automatic glue delivery with a conveyor belt and charging via a plate chain.

• Band resaw BK60 / BK80 the reaches feed rates of up to 180 feet per minute, in standard configuration, and up to 240 feet per minute with the high-performance package. Sensor-based measurement of the boards prior to infeed allows for optimized outfeed of three equally wide pieces. The BK features a sound-insulated safety cabin.

• PowerJoint 8,  a compact finger jointing line for glulam production. The new ProfiJoint 8 allows timber with up to 8 connections to be centrally milled and pressed per minute.

Weinig is showing these and other wood manufacturing and wood products processing machines at Ligna 2013 through May 10.
