Osborne Now Owns Patent on the Fusion Leg

Osborne Wood Products is delighted to announce their new patent protecting all intellectual and development rights of the Fusion Leg. This has been a lengthy work in progress, lasting almost three years.

C.E.O and founder of Osborne Wood Products, Leon Osborne, first visualized the concept in 2008 while on a business trip to Spain. Since that time,Osborne and his business have been persistently developing the Fusion Leginto the revolutionary product it is today.

Haden Smith, Osborne’s chief CAD designer developed the project. He was assisted with the artistic design by Ron Reardon, a patent lawyer, as well as by Leon Osborne. “Osborne sees the Fusion Leg as an opportunity to serve new customer demands,” states Leon Osborne. This patentis commonly known as a “design” patent.

The design patentprotects the visual design and features applied to the manufactured product. It protects the way the manufactured product looks, while not allowing intrusion in design on that manufactured product from other parties.

The manufactured product cannot exist alone simply as a pattern of surface design. It must be a definite, pre-planned process, capable of reproduction and not merely the chance result of a random process that produces the manufactured product.

Although the monumental goal of creating and owning intellectual propertyhas been achieved, Osborne is now seeking a second patent known as a “utility” patent. The utility patent will complete the legal backing and security for the Fusion Leg. Though the utility patent has yet to be awarded to Osborne Wood Products, the utility patent is expected to be allowed at a future date.

The Fusion Leg is unlike anything seen before in this industry, combining traditional wooden leg profiles with modern metal components. The newly patented Fusion Leg is available in eight different wood types with five different metal finishes.
