Stanley Furniture Company, Inc. (Nasdaq-NGS:STLY) third quarter results recorded a $7.5 million gain on closing down its Young America nursery and youth lines. Finding it couldn't compete with Asian factories, Stanley is now gaining ground on design appeal in residential furniture.

Sauder Woodworking is among 18 companies, including 3M, protesting a surcharge levied by Ohio's First Energy Solutions. The companies told the Public Utility Commission of Ohio the so-called "Polar Vortex" charge was unfair, because they group have negotiated flat rates.
