Wooden Globe Award Winners Have Been Chosen

WMIA Wooden Globe NEW MILFORD, CT - The Woodworking Machinery Industry Assocation (WMIA) has named the winners of the 2014 Wooden Globe Awards.

These individuals have been chosen to receive recognition for their outstanding contributions to the woodworking industry. They will be honored during the 2014 Woodworking Industry Conference April 28-Mar 2 at the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

Every year the WMIA recognizes extraordinary companies and institutions with the prestigious Wooden Globe Awards. These awards are presented for notable success and achievements, accomplished in part through the use of high technology machinery and software supplied by WMIA member companies, as well as for industry education.

Innovator of the Year Award  2014
Brown Forman – America’s largest spirits and wine company is the winner. Nominees for the Innovator Award produce a unique and innovative wood based product or utilize an innovative process to produce a wood based product using high technology machinery supplied by one or more WMIA member companies. www.brown-forman.com

Educator of the Year 2014
Doug Rappe – Expanding economic opportunities through community building programs, Rappe is a good example of the goal of the Educator Award, given annually to someone within an educational institution or company with a structured curriculum tailored to training individuals for careers in the woodworking industry.The curriculum for this award always includes hands-on training on high technology machinery supplied by WMIA member companies.
