LINCOLNSHIRE, IL

-- Vance Publishing’s Woodworking Network has announced Wood Tech Summit a two-day forum to be held Feb. 24 and 25, 2011 in Charlotte, NC.

Focusing on integrated wood manufacturing and other advance wood industry technologies, Wood Tech Summit will be held at the Charlotte Convention Center in the heart of a major hub of U.S. furniture manufacturing industry.

The Summit will be co-located with two other premier wood industry gatherings: the Custom Cabinets Conference for cabinetmakers and custom woodworkers, and the 7th annual Closets & Home Organization Conference & Expo, the largest annual event for the home organization industry.

Wood Tech Summit will offer a platform for detailed presentations of large-scale integrated woodworking technology applications, with formats including educational sessions and roundtable discussions featuring wood industry technology leaders. Highly interactive sessions of Wood Tech Summit will also be videocast over WoodworkingNetwork.com, which provides the online platform for Wood & Wood Products, the leading community for large-volume manufacturers of cabinets, furniture and other secondary wood products.

Wood industry leaders from all facets of high-production wood manufacturing and supply communities- educational, research, manufacturing and suppliers — are expected to attend and present at Wood Tech Summit. Subjects to be addressed include:
• Mass customization of manufactured wood products
• Integrated materials handling
• Logistics and supply chain concerns
• Enterprise Resource Planning driven-production
• Developments in lumber, fasteners, and other industry consumables materials

Facilities for one-on-one presentations and private conferences will also be provided.

“Technology integration is critically important to the transformation of the wood manufacturing industry,” said Laurel Didier, vice president of Vance Publishing’s Woodworking Network. “We’ve seen a keen interest at recent industry events for sessions that allow deeper discussions of how woodworking design and manufacturing software, and wood manufacturing equipment and systems can interact and integrate. Since Charlotte is the heart of the residential furniture manufacturing industry, we think it is a great setting for advancing that discussion.”

A webcast on Integrated Wood Manufacturing Technology is scheduled for January 19, 2011 at woodworkingnetwork.com.
