Akhurst to Celebrate 75th Anniversary at WMS

TORONTO - Akhurst Machinery, one of Canada's most recognizable names for woodworking equipment, has issued an open invitation to woodworkers to help the company celebrate its 75th anniversary during the 2013 Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo (WMS 2013).

Akhurst to Celebrate 75th Anniversary at WMS Akhurst will host a 75th Anniversary reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25. The event, featuring food and drink, will be held in Aivation Ballroom B, just outside of Hall 5 of the International Centre, venue of WMS 2013. During Canada's largest woodworking show, Oct. 24-26, Akhurst (booth #5228) will display a representation of its product line including machinery from Camtech, Gannomat, Heesemann, Houfek, Leadermac, Maggi, Omec, Original Saw and Unique Machinery.

Akhurst Machinery was founded in 1938 by William (W.A.) Akhurst and has grown to become one of North America’s largest independent woodworking equipment distributors. The company, now managed by third and fourth generation Akhurst family members, operates five offices located across Canada, plus one in Washington state.

WMS 2013 is well ahead of WMS 2011 in terms of number of exhbitors and exhibit space. Attendee registration is pacing to be the biggest turnout since WMS 2007. In addition to showcasing a full array of under power woodworking machinery and supplies, WMS 2013 features free education sessions on topics ranging from eliminating combustible dust in a wood plant and intro to the closet market to CNC nesting strategies and highlights of new architectural woodwork quality standards, including a Saturday morning session presented in French.
