IWF 2014 Challengers Award Magazine Now OnlineExcitement is building for the 2014 International Woodworking Fair. North America’s largest wood industry show runs August 20-23 at Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center. Much of the interest centers on innovations expected at the show, which are well represented among entries in the Challengers Distinguished Achievement Award competition.

Now in its 24th year, the Challengers Award program has renewed its mission to encourage and promote development of innovative technology in the field of woodworking machinery, supplies, and services for the furniture, kitchen cabinets, architectural woodwork, store fixture, upholstery, or specialty and general wood product industries.

Sixty-one woodworking products from 45 companies were entered in this year’s competition and 20 finalists have been named. Final judging, by a panel of eight industry experts, will take place on Tues., Aug. 19, one day before IWF 2014 opens. The finalists will perform live demonstrations for the judges, who will then make their final decisions on the most innovative product developments. Seven winners will be announced on Aug. 20 during a special presentation at the show.

The IWF 2014 Challengers Award publication, issued by Woodworking Network for the International Woodworking Fair organization, provides an overview of the history of the competition and lists the 61 entrants and 20 finalists entered in the 2014 competition.

New products and supplies featured here include the latest developments in finishing, gluing, software, veneer, tool dust extraction, seamless edge-banding, CNC machining centers and much more. As the industry rebounds, so does its innovation!
