Apollo Turbospray System Adjusts Automatically for FinishesVISTA, CA - Wood finishing systems supplier Apollo Sprayers International reached the semifinals of the 2014 IWF Challengers Award Competition for its new HVLP Turbospray system, which is designed to provide consistent atomizing results with a variety of finishes in different environments.

Known as the Precision-5, the Apollo HVLP Turbospray system delivers 9.5 psi through a pressure control system, which automatically compensates for changes in altitude and barometric pressure to ensure precise atomizing when working remotely or when winter air gets especially dry.

Apollo says wood finishers should also be able to expect similar results when working with solvents, waterbase coatings, pigments, faux paints, and gelcoats.

Apollo says it has documented a high transfer efficiency for the system -  80% - which it says is 38% or better savings over other “compliant” spray guns and systems. Apollo also says the Precision-5 delivers clean, warm, dry air, which provides a particular benefit for the application of waterbased and waterborne coatings and finishes.

The IWF Challengers Awards celebrate innovations which advance the industry through technology in products, services, and manufacturing techniques. Twenty finalists were selected to present to a panel of judges at the Georgia World Congress Center on August 19. The judges will render a verdict on the winners the morning the show opens, August 20.
