THESIX, Visionary Award Entrant

This machine from Casadei-Busellato offers vertical and horizontal drilling and grooving in the long axis of the part without any setup other than program retrieval.  There are no vacuum cups or panel supports to position and so no possibility of collision.  The machine moves the part in its long axis and moves the machining head over and across the short axis, creating a machine with a very small footprint.  The machine base can be smaller too, since the motion of the machining head is limited to the width of the part.  The machine is fed from one end and can return the part to the operator or feed it out the opposite end to another operator, for maximum flexibility.  The benefits of a small footprint, no mechanical set up, simple programming and flexibility in shop floor layout all combine to offer a machine with unique characteristics that meet today’s demands of small batches, minimal material movement, and compact shop space.
