Home and office furnishings manufacturer Herman Miller, Inc. will report about a 13 percent increase in sales and orders for the third quarter March 18. Residential furnisher lead growth.

Targeting $5 billion in furniture exports, 470 exhibitors converged on Indonesia's largest ever furniture trade show, IFEX 2015. Indonesia says its workforce and forests are things Singapore or Malaysia cannot compete with.

New Weinig Software Links Panel and Solid Wood Machine Data

EnVision, a plant-wide software that integrates manufacturing data flow through both panel and solid wood machinery, has been developed by Weinig. Aimed at both the solid wood and panel industries, it is intended to enable mass customization production.

Lumber Liquidators says it will provide for indoor air testing, and even floor replacements, for buyers of its laminate floors made in China. The wood flooring firm faces a Senate probe and class action lawsuits after 60 Minutes reported it sells flooring with formaldehyde.


$8.7 Million in Federal Funds Aimed at Biomass Fuel Development

USDA announced the availability of up to $8.7 million in funding for bioenergy research and education efforts as well as publishing the final rule for a program that provides incentives for those interested in developing biomass for renewable energy.


National Office Furniture Reshores Production to Expanded Plant

Kimball International announced plans to expand its National Office Furniture facility in Fordsville, KY, and bring production of Kimball Hospitality furniture back from overseas.
