DALLAS —
In a move that could hurt residential kitchen cabinetry remodelers, U.S. Home Systems Inc.  launched an online kitchen designer tool to help homeowners design their own kitchen cabinetry layout, using cabinet refacing and other pre-set options.

The site is branded under US Remodelers, an operating subsidiary of U.S. Home Systems, and co-branded with Home Depot. US Remodelers has set up kitchen cabinetry remodeling displays at hundreds of Home Depots as part of its business strategy. The program has been extended through 2014.

In 2006, U.S. Home Systems began to market, sell and install its kitchen and bathroom cabinet refacing products and installation services exclusively through The Home Depot under a service provider agreement. By 2009 it launched in-store displays at The Home Depot in 42 markets covering 27 states and 1,660 home improvement stores; bath productswere available in 17 markets through 567 stores.

The Home Depot agreement has been a huge success for U.S. Home Systems, driving a 38 percent sales rise, and Home Depot has extended it. Set to expire Feb. 11, in a Feb. 9 SEC filing U.S. Home Systems said it had extended its deal with The Home Depot to sell and install specialty home improvement products, including kitchen and bathroom cabinet refacing products and related accessories through February 25, 2014.

US Remodeler's site guides do-it-yourself remodelers, meeting specific requirements, with a variety of cabinet styles, colors and wood selections as well as optional countertop selections. In addition, the website allows users to schedule free in-home estimates, contains information on sale promotions, and provides a link to a video from The Home Depot, with whom U.S. Home Systems has its extensive service provider agreement.
