- Rubbermaid has announced an expanded professional closet cabinetry offerings, Heirloom Select, with a proprietary DesignPro online design application directly linked to its production plant in Jackson, MO.

Rubbermaid, a unit of Rubbermaid Newell, says it is targeting the Heirloom Select line at professional interior remodelers and builders, including closet firms and custom cabinetmakers. The system uses a FastTrack rack from which closet storage cabinets and components are hung, which Rubbermaid says costs 30 percent less than built-in systems. FastTrack is made from solid steel with an epoxy finish. Heirloom Select is available in classic white, traditional ivory, fresh maple, rich cherry and mahogany.

Manufactured at Rubbermaid's Jackson, MO melamine panel production plant, the Heirloom Select closet and home storage components line uses knobs and pulls from sister company Amerock, as well as all-steel full-drawer guides and glides from partner firms such as Hafele, and some wood components from a variety of manufacturers. The cabinet panel components are manufactured from 3/4-inch thick commercial grade melamine laminates.

Betty Schmal, Rubbermaid brand managers, says an online design and ordering system using Rubbermaid's Closet At a Time eliminates the need for cabinetry installers and remodelers to carry inventory. The system provides a 48-hour turnaournd design service including color rendering and parts listing for ordering, shipping one project per skid to simplify staging and transport within seven days.

"We've made it easy to create beautiful custom closets at a fraction of the cost of a built-in system," says Schmal. Home interior woodworking firms can view the offerings and access deign and online ordering applications at rubbermaidpro.com

Rubbermaid has for years been the leading provider of wire rack closet and home storage systems for the new construction market, to which it introduced its Heirloom line of built-in closets in 2002. With the slowdown in new construction, Rubbermaid launched the Heirloom Select to help it gain a shore of the professional remodeling market.
