J.C. Penney Recalls Lead-Laden Art Set

WASHINGTON, – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that J.C. Penney of Plano, TX, has issued a voluntary recall of about 19,000 deluxe wood art sets because of excessive levels of lead.

The surface paint on the outside of the wooden boxes contains levels of lead that violate the federal paint standard. The products were made in Taiwan and Vietnam.

No injuries have been reported.

Consumers are urged to take the recalled products away from young children immediately and return them to any J.C. Penney store for a full refund.
