Lean manufacturing, RFID technology, robotics and the use of small-footprint cells, are among the topics covered in a free webcast geared to help woodworkers improve their productivity and profitability. The webcast, âProfit with Integrated Wood Manufacturing,â will take place Jan. 19, at 10:30 a.m. Central Time on WoodworkingNetwork.com.
Jason Harris, chief information manager for Custom Cupboards, will lead off the session. Based in Kansas, Custom Cupboards has the distinction of being the first cabinetmaker in the nation to use robotics in conjunction with RFID technology and bar coding in the production. The company also is known for its efforts in improving connectivity throughout the plant and for its high levels of quality control in manufacturing face-frame and frameless cabinetry in a lean environment.
Also presenting is Jerry Grigsby, director of manufacturing for POWERS Retail Services. Based in Illinois, POWERS is a full-service store fixture manufacturer that successfully combines the technology of large feedthrough production machinery latest concept in small footprint workcell systems, to achieve the short lead times, high production and custom services demanded by its list of top retail clients.
