WASHINGTON —

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with The First Years, announced a voluntary recall of the American Red Cross Cabinet Swing Locks. The recall affects approximately 41,300 units.

According to CPSC, the latches on the Model Y7181 cabinet locks can break, giving children access to contents in a cabinet or drawer, and thereby risking exposure to hazardous items. Already, CPSC has received seven reports of latches breaking, but no injuries.

The latches are made in China and sold for approximately $4 a pair at Toys R Us, Babies R Us and other retail stores nationwide as well as on the Internet, from September 2008 through September 2010.
