Wood Products Gets New Chief from Atlas HoldingGREENWICH, CT — Atlas Holdings LLC says its wood products businesses will now have a structure for succession, as it named Kurt Liebich Group Executive for Wood Products, succeeding Richard Yarbrough, the group's top exec since its was founded in 2003. Yarbrough now becomes chairman of the board.

Liebich was also named CEO of Wood Resources LLC, Atlas’ specialty and commodity plywood products business, while continuing as president and CEO of RedBuilt LLC, Atlas’ wood-based structural products company.

William Corbin, previously chairman, remains on Wood Resources’ board as executive committee chair; Corbin and Yarbrough are also members of RedBuilt’s Board.

Wood Resources, based in Olympia, WA, employs 700 generating $200 million annually producing wood panels for industrial applications and commercial and residential construction markets through three operating companies: Moncure Plywood in Moncure, NC.; Chester Wood Products in Chester, SC.; and Olympic Panel Products in Shelton, WA. RedBuilt is a supplier of engineered lumber products based in Boise, ID.

“There are tremendous synergies both companies can realize under Kurt’s expert guidance," said Atlas Holdings chairman and managing partner Andrew Bursky. "The businesses will be able to take a more holistic approach to developing raw material sourcing strategies in the western United States. Given the pending economic recovery, sourcing raw materials is one of the top strategic priorities for both companies over the next five years.”

Liebich joined RedBuilt’s predecessor in 1994 and helped to grow the company into a billion dollar business, remaining when Weyerhauser acquired it in 1999.
